As W magazine’s youthful looking cover girl this month, 77-year-old actress, model and L’Oreal ambassador Jane Fonda also gave a rather candid interview, admitting, “I did have plastic surgery, I’m not proud of the fact that I’ve had it. But I grew up so defined by my looks. I was taught to think that if I wanted to be loved, I had to be thin and pretty. That leads to a lot of trouble.”It’s the same kind of trouble that some of her fellow celebrities – not to mention the two thirds of Britons who have gone under the knife – have also found themselves in.
Back in 2014, during the launch of The Body Book, Cameron Diaz revealed to ET Online that Botox treatments had changed her face “in such a weird way”. She admitted; “I’ve tried [Botox] before, where it was like a little tiny touch of something. It changed my face in such a weird way that I was like, ‘No, I don’t want to be like that’ – I’d rather see my face ageing than a face that doesn’t belong to me at all.”
Gwyneth Paltrow had a similar experience. In a 2013 interview with US Harper’s Bazaar she exclaimed; “I’ll try anything. Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!” She added however; “it feels like someone’s smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it. But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face. It’s all about finding the “balance between cigarettes and tofu,” she explained, “I use organic products, but I get lasers. It’s what makes life interesting.” Would she go under the knife? “I would be scared, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50.”
Former glamour model Katie Price also spoke out against plastic surgery in her recent Celebrity Big Brother stint. “I’m a fan of plastic surgery, but that’s obvious. I won’t share the list of what I’ve done because we’d be here all day, but if I was going to give advice to someone then it would be to research properly and be careful who you put your trust in. I wish I knew that when I was younger because I could’ve saved myself a lot of heartache and surgery.”
Had she, or hadn’t she? Finally, only last year after having had her implants removed,Victoria Beckham admitted to Allure magazine that she had indeed had a boob job. “I don’t have them anymore,” she confessed. “I think I may have purchased them. Or they got removed, one or the other.”
