Facial redness and vascular issues that cause visible veins are some of the most common aesthetic complaints our clients have. Leg vein removal is a popular treatment choice each spring before dresses and shorts are worn again, but many people struggle with redness caused by rosacea, port wine stains, spider veins, and other vascular issues on the face, year-round.
At Philosophy of Beauty, we use the leading laser vein treatment technologies in the world to customize a very personalised approach for each person’s source of facial redness of unwanted veins.
We use the incredible V Beam Prima laser, an all-around safe and comfortable pulsed dye laser. It’s an excellent choice to treat facial veins, rosacea, stretch marks, and more.
Fotona’s SP Dynamis laser system can perform numerous aesthetic treatments and it’s one of our most multi-purposed systems to reach deeper vascular concerns and surface pigment and redness.
The GentleMax Pro® laser vein reduction device from Candela targets unwanted veins with a multi-wavelength laser light system.
The IPL Lumenis One targets skin conditions like rosacea, spider veins, and hyperpigmentation, as well as skin rejuvenation.
Spider veins can appear on the face, or the body and they often look like a small tangle of red or purple threads under the surface. These broken capillaries, or telangiectasias, are nicknamed, ‘spider veins’ because the veins may look like tiny spider legs or tree branches.
Telangiectasias are most often treated with a no n-invasive laser which directs light and thermal energy into the vessel to disintegrate and erase it. When your spider veins are treated with a laser, you may see them darken briefly before disappearing, or they may disappear instantly!
Spider veins typically don’t produce physical pain and are primarily treated for cosmetic purposes, but larger, varicose veins may cause medical complications such as throbbing, burning, aching, or swelling. Sclerotherapy which involves injecting and collapsing those larger veins may be advised depending on your situation. We will be happy to assess your vein concerns and tell you about the different effective methods of vein treatment we offer.
Philosophy of Beauty uses the leading IPL Lumenis One, our most advanced IPL therapy. Short for Intense Pulsed Light, this gold-standard photorejuvenation treatment uses targeted light to treat Rosacea, unwanted veins, and Hyperpigmentation.
IPL uses a broad spectrum of light, distinguishing it from other laser treatments. This light is primarily absorbed by melanin and oxyhemoglobin, so it is effective to reduce the appearance of sunspots, pigmentation, rosacea, and spider veins. When IPL is used to treat conditions related to sun-induced skin damage, the process is known as Photorejuvenation
The Fotona Nd: Yag laser removes small surface veins and broken capillaries by targeting each blood vessel with pulses of laser light. When the energy from the laser is absorbed by the blood in veins and converted into heat, the vein walls are destroyed. As the vein dissolves, the body clears away the waste material just as it does when naturally resolving a bruise. Once the body has completed this process, the blood vessel material is permanently gone, and the skin is left smooth and clear. Those who are prone to forming spider veins may have the tendency to create more in the future. Fortunately, any newly developing veins can be quickly treated, and maintenance treatments are encouraged for clear skin in the long term.
GentleMax Pro by Candela offers a fast way to remove spider veins, pigmented lesions, and unwanted veins. This laser was developed with comfort in mind and to treat all skin tones and types safely. Because of its dual laser design, we can use the Yag laser for dark skin types and the Alexandrite laser setting for light skin. GentleMax has a cooling system to greatly minimize discomfort and keep your skin at the desired temperature throughout treatment.
The V Beam ® Prima system is designed for over 20 different aesthetic indications. For the face and body, this pulse dye laser (PDL) boasts high tolerability and very low side effects, making it a convenient choice whether you struggle with broken capillaries, unwanted leg veins, acne breakouts, or scars. At Philosophy of Beauty, V Beam is often our best choice for challenging aesthetic vascular issues and redness, like:
- Angiomas
- Leg veins, including reticular veins
- Acne scar treatment
- Rosacea
- Broken Capillaries (spider veins)
- Surgical scars
- Poikiloderma
- Port Wine Stain
- Reddened Scars
- Stretch Marks
- Rosacea symptom treatment
Clinical studies have shown rosacea symptoms reduced from moderate to mild with V Beam treatment. 84% of patients studied reported an over 40% improvement and 94% said they were happy with their results.
The V Beam Prima laser directs a concentrated beam of light harmlessly through the skin’s surf ace to target red and purple-toned structures underneath. The laser light converts to heat, which then destroys precisely targeted vessels without harming the surrounding tissue. PDL treatments have been used to diminish facial redness from excess or broke n blood vessels for almost two decades. It’s one of the top treatment choices for skin disorders characterized by purple or red discoloration. So, why is our new, V Beam 595-nm long-pulsed dye laser (LPDL) more effective, and safer?
- The V Beam wavelength is specifically absorbed by reddish or purple structures like capillaries, small arteries, and veins. Pulsed-dye laser treatment for rosacea and facial telangiectasia previously caused significant facial bruising due to rupturing vessels.
- Now, V-Beam Lasers coagulate rather than erupt the tiny target blood vessels. Your body will absorb the damaged vessels, and the flow of blood is then re-directed into deeper ones. This technology achieves dramatic clearance or elimination of redness with fewer treatments and far less bruising as a result.
Long pulsed dye laser treatment is a safe, comfortable way to improve your complexion and rejuvenate your appearance.
Intense pulsed light (IPL) uses precise light energy to treat facial redness, hyperpigmentation, and sun-damaged skin. IPL light is absorbed by damaged pigment cells and dark hair roots. Comparatively, V Beam emits a single wavelength (595 nm) of light to target and coagulate vascular and reddish lesions safely. Comparatively, Fotona offers the capability of treating surface pigment issues and texture along with deeper vascular concerns too.
Each of these popular technology types is used for treating redness. However, V Beam often achieves desired results with fewer sessions than IPL or Fotona. Typically, it takes IPL up to 6 sessions to reduce rosacea-related redness. V Prima yields results in only 3-4 treatments. V Prima is also used for rosacea-induced acne. When it comes to broken capillaries or veins, IPL doesn’t target specific vessels, so V-Beam is the preferred device for precise targeting of vascular complaints. Some laser systems work better with different skin types, and depending on your goals and expectations, one, or a combination may be better suited to you. Your consultation at Philosophy of Beauty is free and we’ll ensure your in-depth assessment and recommendations are personalized and informative.
When treating specific lesions or veins, a significant reduction can be seen after just one treatment, but patients may prefer two or more for optimal results. Often, new spider veins or surface veins will appear over time. Those who have port wine stains, severe rosacea, and hemangiomas sometimes need more than one treatment as do patients with hypertrophic scars or keloids.
At Philosophy of Beauty, our skin specialists will be pleased to devise your custom vein treatment package with IPL, Fotona, or V Beam laser sessions to reveal the complexion you want.
Your laser technician will discuss your treatment and what you can expect in your private treatment suite. Once you’ve received all the necessary details and asked questions, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to your skin which helps to dull the sensation and make the treatment comfortable.
You’ll be able to recline comfortably on a treatment bed and have safety glasses placed for protection. Most patients describe the sensation of non-ablative lasers as a rubber band snap, but not severe enough to be painful. The V Beam uses a unique cooling system to spray the treatment area before and after a laser pulse. This has the effect of instant soothing and reduces discomfort, but it doesn’t over-cool either, which is important to allow optimal thermal energy delivery under the surface.
Your skin will be kept at the ideal temperature for maximum effect with minimum passes. Treating lesions in one pass is preferable and much more comfortable.
After your session, for the first few days, you may see redness and mild inflammation on the skin like a sunburn. V Beam laser bruising is uncommon, but you might notice small, pinpoint bruises after your session. Bruises usually clear up naturally over two weeks.
