As one of the GTA’s top aesthetic clinics, Philosophy of Beauty offers a leading-edge, effective nail fungus treatment. We understand how embarrassing and uncomfortable nail fungus can be and we’re here to help restore your healthy-looking nails and your confidence. Using Fotona’s ClearSteps™ Onychomycosis Treatment, we can safely fight nail fungus, repairing the health and appearance of your nails.

Many people don’t know that the cause of their thickened, yellowed, and brittle nails is a stubborn fungus. Nail fungus is a common condition that occurs due to the overpopulation of various fungi and yeast in the nail and surrounding tissues.

The most common cause is a type of fungus called dermatophyte. Yeast and molds also cause nail infections. These opportunistic pathogens can regenerate rapidly, and if left untreated, may cause the thickening and hardening of your nails.

While oral prescription medications treat nail fungus in some cases, these treatments are usually slow to take effect and yield unpleasant side effects. As a result, laser nail fungus treatment in Toronto is quickly gaining popularity because it provide s immediate relief and visible results for our clients.

Although nail fungus, known as Onychomycosis, can infect the toenails or fingernails, it most frequently occurs on the toenails. Nail fungus is a common disease, which affects approximately 10% of the population.

While there are many different causes of fungal nail infections, there are some factors that increase your likelihood of developing Onychomycosis.

Examples include:

  • Those who are diabetic
  • Poor circulation
  • A weakened immune system
  • Over the age of 65

In addition, individuals who sustain an injury to the skin surrounding the nail, wear artificial nails, or frequently wear closed-toe shoes without good air circulation are more likely to develop nail fungus problems.

Since nail fungi usually grow in warm and humid environments such as spas, swimming pools, public showers, and locker areas, walking barefoot in public areas increases your risk of developing deformed, painful, discoloured toenails due to fungus. Manicures or pedicures performed in unsanitary or unsterile conditions can also lead to the development of fungal nail infections.

Symptoms of Onychomycosis include distorted, thickened, or discoloured nails, yellow or white streaks under the nails, and nails that have separated from the underlying skin.

We understand how troubling it can be to watch your nails deteriorate and not know why. You may have tried drugstore creams and spot treatments without seeing the results you want.

If you have any of these symptoms, contact Philosophy of Beauty for a complimentary consultation to discover how laser fungus treatment in Toronto can benefit you.

How do we treat nail fungus with a laser light? This non-surgical, non-invasive treatment has quickly become the leading choice for most patients because of its safety, simplicity, and quick results.

The Fotona Nd:YAG laser is a powerful antifungal treatment technology because it uses light to destroy fungus without harming your skin.

Since the fungi present in fungal nail infections are sensitive to laser light therapy, they can be effectively weakened when treated with specialized lasers, such as the revolutionary Fotona ClearSteps™ Onychomycosis Treatment. This advanced technology enables laser energy to penetrate deeply into the affected area, creating thermal effects without damaging healthy skin cells.

This procedure uses the power of laser light to provide thermal energy evenly throughout the layers of the affected nail and skin tissue. The heat creates a photo-thermal effect, which works to efficiently weaken and kill fungi infecting the nails. The pulse-profile heating of the nail bed kills the fungus while simultaneously triggering the natural growth and immune processes of your body, thereby restoring nails to a strong, healthy state.

Your nail fungus treatment at Philosophy of Beauty will take place in your private suite. Before we begin, we’ll discuss the process with you and assess your nails. You can ask questions and communicate with your practitioner throughout the appointment.

The ClearSteps™ procedure is performed in three simple steps:

Step 1: Since Onychomycosis causes the nail to become thickened and discoloured, the first step of the treatment process involves filing down the nail to allow the laser light to fully penetrate the treatment site and kill the bacteria.

Step 2: The Nd:YAG laser pulses are administered in a circular pattern covering the nail. To cover the entire surface area of your nail, the beams are slightly overlapped. During this step, you will feel a mild heating sensation throughout the nail.

Step 3: During the final step, the Nd:YAG laser pulses target the perimeter of the nail bed on the affected finger or toe. This is done to ensure any parasitic fungus that has worked its way beyond the nail bed into the tissue surrounding the nail will not reinfect.

The Fotona ClearSteps™ Onychomycosis Treatment is extremely efficient. Although more than one treatment may be required, each of your convenient sessions can be completed in as little as 45 minutes. You can resume all normal activities right away.

During your complimentary consultation at Philosophy of Beauty, an individual treatment plan will be developed to ensure that you receive the best possible results. While everyone’s needs are unique, typically, four ClearSteps™ treatments are recommended, scheduled at one-week intervals.

It is also advised that all ten fingers or toes be treated during every appointment to ensure that even the fungi you cannot yet see are eliminated.

Although many patients begin to see improvement after one session, the best results are often achieved through a series of 3-4 treatments. While the treatments will result in the growth of a new, health y nail, it is important to note that depending on the rate of growth, it may take up to 1 year to see an entirely clear nail. Toenails tend to take longer than fingernails to grow and replenish themselves.

Our patients love that with our Fotona laser Nail Fungus treatment, there is no associated downtime. You can leave immediately after the procedure and resume daily activities without taking any time off.

Another attractive feature of lase r nail treatment is that it is painless and non-invasive, utilizing advanced laser technology that doesn’t damage skin and does not require an anaesthetic.

We offer safe, effective treatment of nail fungus and elimination of the root cause- the parasitic fungi. Unlike topical medications that don’t penetrate deep enough to reach some infections, laser light therapy passes through skin and nail layers to seek out and destroy the nail fungus.

Our drug-free nail fungus treatment enables the restoration of healthy nail beds and nail growth without dangerous side effects associated with antifungal drugs.

It is an extremely safe procedure. Since no oral medications or chemicals are used for our nail fungus treatment, Toronto patients don’t need to worry about dangerous side effects or recovery after.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of Onychomycosis, Philosophy of Beauty invites you to a complimentary consultation with one of our experienced and compassionate experts.

By devising a customized plan that suits your individual needs, we can provide a simple, safe, and effective solution to eliminate unpleasant and painful nail fungus once and for all.

Conveniently located in Vaughan, we proudly service clients in the Thornhill and Toronto area and are dedicated to making you feel your best, from the inside out.
