Different Applications of Dermal Fillers

Rate this post

Dermal fillers are also referred to as injectable fillers or injectable implants that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in dermatological treatments addressing aging. Patients of Vaughan dermal fillers undergo the non-invasive treatment to improve the volume of their facial skin and achieve smoother, younger appearance. Dermal fillers, like Botox aid in minimizing wrinkles and folds caused by the aging process.

The following are the applications or uses of dermal fillers that have been approved by the FDA:
  • Correction of facial wrinkles and folds (moderate to severe) like the nasolabial folds – also known as marionette or smile lines, which appear on the sides of the mouth up to the nose area. FDA has approved dermal fillers in Vaughan that are extracted or made from absorbable materials.

Use of permanent or non-absorbable substances to correct nasolabial folds is allowed in patients aged 21 years up only.
  • Restoration and correction of lipoatrophy or loss of facial fat among patients with HIV.
  • For lip augmentation in patients aged 21 years up
  • For cheek augmentation in patients aged 21 years up
  • Correction of wrinkles and scars caused by acne
  • For hand augmentation to increase skin volume at the back of the hands

The following are possible applications that are NOT approved by the FDA:
  • Breast augmentation to increase breast size
  • Buttocks augmentation
  • Feet augmentation
  • As implant in other body parts like the bones, tendons, ligaments, or muscles
  • Large scale body contouring through injectable silicone

Dermal fillers like Botox aid in the improvement of facial appearance. As potential patients of Botox injections, Vaughan dermatologists should be able to discuss these applications, the benefits, and more importantly, the risks involved. Similarly, for patients of dermal fillers, Vaughan certified skin professionals working in trusted medical facilities should be laying down all the necessary and critical information about undergoing treatments. This include side effects that could appear weeks or months or even years after the treatment.

The following are potential effects or risks in getting dermal fillers or Botox: swelling, skin redness, bruising, tenderness, rashes, pain or sore on treated area, bumps under the skin that should be removed surgically, allergic reaction, tissue death or necrosis.

While there will likely be concerns about derma fillers or Botox price, Vaughan patients should me most concerned about checking every bit of information before injecting.

Considering that benefits also equate to some risks, health care providers should be able to carefully scrutinize and inspect all the derma fillers they will use for safety and authenticity. Only professionally trained and certified personnel should administer the injection of derma fillers or Botox. Vaughan patients should never ever inject these substances themselves.

It would be smart for every patient to ask questions to be sure about the qualifications and experience of the person who will do the injection. Ask for before and after photos of past treatments. Make sure that both parties understand clearly what the patient’s needs are and what treatments would be necessary.

For everyone’s information, the FDA approval is earned by the brands through a long process that involves the FDA doing controlled clinical studies of the products in simulation of actual applications. It should be absolutely beneficial to know that the repeated use of derma fillers or botox over a long period of time have not been assessed in any FDA controlled clinical study yet.
