The V Beam Prima laser directs a concentrated beam of light harmlessly through the skin’s surface to target red and purple toned structures underneath. The laser light converts to heat, which then destroys precisely targeted vessels without harming the surrounding tissue.

PDL treatments have been used to diminish facial redness from excess or broken blood vessels for almost two decades.  It’s one of the top treatment choices for skin disorders characterized by purple or red discoloration.

So, why is the new, V Beam 595-nm long-pulsed dye laser (LPDL) more effective, and safer?

  • The V Beam wavelength is specifically absorbed by reddish or purple structures like capillaries, small arteries and veins. Pulsed-dye laser treatment for rosacea and facial telangiectasia previously caused significant facial bruising due to rupturing vessels.
  • Now, V-Beam Lasers coagulate rather than erupt the tiny target blood vessels. Your body will absorb the damaged vessels, and the flow of blood is then re-directed into deeper ones. This technology achieves dramatic clearance or elimination of redness with fewer treatments and far less bruising as a result.

Long pulsed dye laser treatment is a safe, comfortable way to improve your complexion and rejuvenate your appearance.

The number of young people and adults battling severe, cystic and inflammatory acne is significant, and treatment can have mixed, disappointing results. Persistent redness and inflammation on the body and facial skin can be discouraging and extremely uncomfortable. Whether prescription acne medication or topical formulations, an estimated 50 million people each year are looking for an acne cure.

The V Beam Prima laser targets inflammatory acne blemishes to reduce redness and bumps. Heat delivered to blood vessels by the pulsed beam also kills harmful acne bacteria to help clear up the issue at the source. Clinical studies have shown impressive results with over 90% of acne lesions clearing after V Beam treatment.

Additionally, patients undergoing treatment for acne with V Beam often say their treatments are nearly pain-free with minimal side effects. The treated complexion is smoother with more even tone and smaller, less visible pores.

A course of 3-6 sessions usually achieves the full, desired results.

This next-level system is compatible with most skin types and beneficial to remove not only active acne, but residual redness and inflammation that comes with it.

Rosacea symptom treatment

Clinical studies have shown rosacea symptoms reduced from moderate to mild with V Beam treatment.  84% of patients reported an over 40% improvement and 94% were happy with results.

Spider vein treatment

Nicknamed, ‘spider veins’ because of their appearance, these tiny jumbles of surface vessels are called Telangiectasia, or broken capillaries. They can be treated in an instant with V Prima and cleared dramatically with minimal discomfort.

Scar Treatment

The V Beam Prima system targets vascular components of scar tissue. The laser improves the appearance of most scars via stimulation of collagen in deep skin layers.

80% of patients treated with V Beam technology in clinical studies reported extreme satisfaction with results, while 77% reported minimal or no pain at all. The appearance of surgical scars in Fitzpatrick skin types I – IV 16 have responded favourably to V Beam Prima.

When you visit Philosophy of Beauty for your consultation and skin assessment, you’ll be provided with detailed procedure information, and we’ll ask some critical questions about your health picture, including :

Some conditions may preclude you from benefitting from this laser, but most healthy patients and a wide variety of skin types qualify.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) uses precise light energy to treat facial redness, hyperpigmentation and sun-damaged skin. IPL light is absorbed by damaged pigment cells and dark hair roots. Comparatively, V Beam emits a single wavelength (595 nm) of light to target and coagulate vascular and reddish lesions safely.

Both technology types are used for treating redness. However, V Beam often achieves desired results with fewer sessions than IPL. Typically, it takes IPL up to 6 sessions to reduce rosacea-related redness. V Prima yields results in only 3 – 4 treatments. V Prima is also used for rosacea-induced acne.

When it comes to broken capillaries or veins, IPL doesn’t target specific vessels, so V-Beam is the preferred device for vascular complaints.

For those who want brighter, smoother skin, we usually recommend 4-6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. When treating specific lesions or veins, significant reduction can be seen after just one treatment, but patients may prefer two or more for optimal results.

Those with port wine stains, severe rosacea, and hemangiomas sometimes need more treatments as do patients with hypertrophic scars or keloids.

At Philosophy of Beauty, our skin specialists will be pleased to devise your custom antiaging package with V Beam, PRP or dermal fillers combined to smooth, minimize texture, and plump up resilient skin. Tell us about your needs and let’s create your ultimate antiaging package.

Most patients describe the sensation like a rubber band snap, but not severe enough to be painful. V Beam uses a unique cooling system to spray the treatment area before and after a laser pulse. This has the effect of instant soothing and reduces discomfort, but it doesn’t over cool either, which is important.

The skin is kept at the ideal temperature for maximum effect and minimum passes. Treating lesions in one pass is preferable and much more comfortable.

After your session, for the first few days, you may see redness and mild inflammation on the skin like a sunburn. V Beam laser bruising is uncommon, but you might notice small, pinpoint bruises after your session. Bruises usually clear up over two weeks.
